Call to Worship

Ephesians 1:3-8 (NLT)

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

Worship through Singing

 Offering

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” - 2 Corinthians 8:9 (ESV)

Take a moment to quietly thank Jesus for his gracious, generous, and sacrificial death so that you might become rich in grace.

Consider how you can use your time, talent, and treasure to cheerfully, generously, and sacrificially love your neighbor and the Northwood family in response to Jesus’ gracious, generous, and sacrificial death for you.

If you desire to give to Northwood, you can mail a check to Northwood or set-up Northwood as one of your payees through online banking.

Corporate Prayer

Please join together as the Northwood family in a time of prayer for the following requests.

1) Praise God that in his power over all things, he is able to even use evil, sin, and our disobedience to drive us into dependence on the one who holds all things together. (Judges 3:1-4)

2) Confess ways the power of sin has given birth to more sin in your life and prevented you from multiplying your faith in others. (Judges 2:6-3:6)

3) Thank God that through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and the power of his Spirit he delivers us from the power of sin and darkness. (1 Cor 15:56-67).

4) Ask God to help us multiply our faith by making disciples for the glory of God among all nations. (Matt 28:19-20)

Scripture Reading

Judges 2:7, 10-15, 18-19; 3:5-6 (NLT)

7 And the Israelites served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and the leaders who outlived him—those who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.

10 After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.  11 The Israelites did evil in the Lord’s sight and served the images of Baal. 12 They abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They went after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them. And they angered the Lord. 13 They abandoned the Lord to serve Baal and the images of Ashtoreth. 14 This made the Lord burn with anger against Israel, so he handed them over to raiders who stole their possessions. He turned them over to their enemies all around, and they were no longer able to resist them. 15 Every time Israel went out to battle, the Lord fought against them, causing them to be defeated, just as he had warned. And the people were in great distress.

18 Whenever the Lord raised up a judge over Israel, he was with that judge and rescued the people from their enemies throughout the judge’s lifetime. For the Lord took pity on his people, who were burdened by oppression and suffering. 19 But when the judge died, the people returned to their corrupt ways, behaving worse than those who had lived before them. They went after other gods, serving and worshiping them. And they refused to give up their evil practices and stubborn ways.

5 So the people of Israel lived among the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, 6 and they intermarried with them. Israelite sons married their daughters, and Israelite daughters were given in marriage to their sons. And the Israelites served their gods.

Respond through Singing

Benediction
Inspired by Hebrews 3:13-14

Whether we are together or separated let us help each other see clearly and not be deceived by sin and hardened against God so that we will be faithful to the end and share in all that belongs to Christ.

Let us go in the grace, peace and power of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.
