Call to Worship

Galatians 1:3-5 (NIV)

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

Romans 8:15-18 (NIV)

15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Worship through Singing

 Offering

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” - 2 Corinthians 8:9 (ESV)

Take a moment to quietly thank Jesus for his gracious, generous, and sacrificial death so that you might become rich in grace.

Consider how you can use your time, talent, and treasure to cheerfully, generously, and sacrificially love your neighbor and the Northwood family in response to Jesus’ gracious, generous, and sacrificial death for you.

If you desire to give to Northwood, you can mail a check to Northwood or set-up Northwood as one of your payees through online banking.

Corporate Prayer

Please join together as the Northwood family in a time of prayer for the following requests.

1) Praise God that he alone is God and that there is no one else like him. (Isaiah 45:5-7)

2) Confess the tendency of all our hearts and concrete ways you have forgotten God’s actions and attributes and lived according to your own desires instead. (Judges 3:7-11)

3) Thank God that in Jesus we are delivered from power of idolatry so that we can love God whole-heartedly and live in response to his love. (1 Corinthians 15:56-57)

4) Ask that God would help us to remember him by listening to his voice and by softening our hearts in response to his Word. (Hebrews 3:8)

Scripture Reading

Judges 3:7-11 (ESV)

7 And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asheroth. 8 Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia. And the people of Israel served Cushan-rishathaim eight years. 9 But when the people of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. 10 The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim. 11 So the land had rest forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

Respond through Singing

Benediction
Adapted from Ephesians 2:12-13

May we remember that we who were far off have been brought near to God by the blood of Christ.

Let us go in the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.
